Gutting the Clean Water Act

Read about the Supreme Court ruling that removed Federal protection for approximately 100 million acres of wetlands. The ruling applied to a case filed in Idaho, but it has a HUGE impact on coastal communities like ours.

What can YOU do?

Write your senators and representatives and tell them we need State protection for Louisiana’s wetlands, which help capture carbon and provide a buffer against storms.

Or Volunteer to work on our wetlands! Several organizations do this work. Here are a few great options:

• Common Ground Relief (wetland plantings)

• Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (tips and volunteer opportunities)

• Sankofa Wetland Park (volunteer, take a tour)

• Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana (Oyster Reef Restoration and more)
